Iowa Unity Coalition Endorses Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart for Re-Election

For Immediate Release: November 19, 2025
The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce our endorsement of Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart for re-election in the upcoming runoff election to be held on December 2, 2025. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.
Mr. Hart has served as Waterloo mayor since 2016 and is seeking his 6th term. He previously served on the Waterloo City Council for 8 years and is the former Director of Multicultural Affairs at Hawkeye Community College. Mr. Hart is the only African-American to be elected as mayor in Waterloo.
We believe Mr. Hart has shown a strong commitment to eliminating inequities for the diverse communities in Waterloo. Mayor Hart believes "homelessnes should never be criminalized, but compassionately addressed through coordination, dignity, and opportunity". Additionally, we feel he has extensive experience in the areas of social justice and systems interactions.
