Iowa Unity Coalition Endorses Luisita McBurney Polk County Recorder

The Iowa Unity Coalition is proud to announce the endorsement of Luisita McBurney for Polk County Recorder in the upcoming Democratic primary election to be held on June 2, 2026. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.
Luisita McBurney is a dedicated public servant, community leader and proud immigrant who has served the people of Iowa for over two decades as an employee of the State of Iowa. She has built a reputation for accuracy, accountability and improving how government serves people. Ms. McBurney is a Certified Public Manager through Drake University and a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Community Leadership Program.
Ms. McBurney has committed her time and talents to her community. Beginning as a volunteer, she has served as Co-Chair of the Monsoon Asians and Pacific Islanders in Solidarity and went on to found the Filipino American Society, the largest Filipino American organization in Iowa and a hub for cultural celebration and civic engagement. Other leadership roles include treasurer for the Iowa Unity Coalition, former board member of On With Life, and former Public Relations Officer for the National Federation of Filipino American Associations. Luisita is also the recipient of many local and national awards and recognitions.
The Iowa Unity Coalition believes Luisita McBurney is the right leader for this job. She brings experience and integrity to the position and is committed to bringing faster, smarter and simpler service to the people of Polk County.
