For Immediate Release: December 10, 2025

The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce our endorsement of Renee Hardman for State Senate District 16 in the upcoming special election to be held on December 30th. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.

Ms. Hardman is completing her second term on the West Des Moines City Council. She is the President and CEO of Lutheran Services in Iowa. Renee Hardman is also the past president of the Chrysalis Foundation and former inaugural board member of the Latina Leadership Initiative. Additionally, she has received several awards for her work in the business community and for her volunteer work including a lifetime volunteer award from President Joe Biden. Renee Hardman is also an Iowa Women Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the Governors Volunteer Service Award.

Renee’s priorities include strong public schools, safe and welcoming communities and a thriving economy that leaves no one behind. We respect her record of speaking up for social justice for the residents of West Des Moines. We believe she is the best candidate to address the under representation of marginalized groups.
