The Iowa Unity Coalition is proud to announce the endorsement of Heather Jones-Brown for Election to the Polk County Board of Supervisors District 4 in the upcoming general election to be held on November 3, 2026. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.
Heather Jones-Brown works as the Assistant Chief Diversity Officer for Staff Equity at Grinnell College. Jones-Brown is a long time Des Moines resident and graduated from East High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science/international relations from William Jewell College and a Master’s degree in business leadership from William Penn University. She serves on many boards and committees including the executive committee of the NAACP Des Moines branch, the Des Moines YMCA Camp Advisory Board, and the Epsilon Theta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Heather Jones-Brown wants to prioritize mental health services and water quality in Polk County and the equitable delivery of services. Jones-Brown leads with preparation and follow-through, listening before deciding and accountability without blame. She believes Polk County needs to focus on fairness and transparency and has worked to promote both in her career. The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to support her and a new generation of leaders.
