The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce the endorsement of Lila Starr for re-election to

the West Des Moines School Board in the upcoming election to be held on November 4, 2025.

The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and

underrepresented communities at every level of government.



Lila Starr has worked as a licensed social worker and mental health specialist with the Iowa

Department of Human Services for over 35 years. She serves as secretary for 2 national

professional organizations and is a frequent presenter on mental health, disabilities and long

term health care issues. Ms. Starr was first elected to the West Des Moines School Board in

2021 after previously serving on the WDMCS Community Education Advisory Committee for

several years. The Iowa Unity Coalition believes Lila Starr has demonstrated a deep

commitment to strong public schools for every child.
